LSP 2020 will take an unconference approach! Past feedback on the preconference highlights that attendees enjoy engaging with dialogue and workshops so this year we aim to do more of that centered around future directions in the field and useful resources for doing lifespan social-personality research.
The Lifespan Social-Personality Preconference acknowledges the demographic shifts of our modern society and highlights the scientific importance of understanding and integrating lifespan methodology in social-personality research.
The fields of social-personality psychology and lifespan development are each growing rapidly. While both fields are independently growing in size and importance for modern psychological research, there is also an increased interest in the intersection of lifespan development research and social-personality psychology.
Many lifespan developmental psychologists find importance in the questions asked by social-personality psychologists for the everyday functioning of their population of interest. In addition, researchers in areas such as emotion, social cognition, health, and personality are also gaining interest in understanding how the integration of lifespan data can help further basic scientific answers in their research.
